Our Projects

Our projects are delivered locally and Overseas in collaboration with our partners abroad. Power of Apostolic Church International (PAC), a faith based organisation based in the rural communities of Western part of Nigeria is our key ministry partner. Whilst most of our current overseas is based in Nigeria in keeping with the adage: ” charity begins at home”, our long term vision is to identify other viable NGO Partners overseas and expand the scope of our operations to other needy developing communities.

Ota, a town in the western part of Nigeria surrounded by a number of other rural communities are amongst the most  deprived areas in Nigeria where rural-urban migration is rampant because of the hopeless economic situation in the area. Many children drop out of school due to the inability of their parents to afford their continuing education. Due to 50% Government cut in educational investment and endemic corruption in Nigeria, the standard and quality of publicly funded education has declined, occasioning mass withdrawal of children from public schools by concerned parents. Unfortunately, many parents are too poor to be able to afford privately funded education for their children. Orphans and widows are the most badly affected. Many  children, about 80% of young people dream of migration abroad with a bleak prospect and life of servitude and ‘modern day slavery’ abroad. Others simply join violent gangs, cults and take to crooked means of obtaining their livelihood. A local survey reveals lack of  gainful employment opportunities, relevant skills and lack of resources to learn vocational trade. This is why GOLEM  choose to base its emancipation activities in this geographical part of Nigeria. Our educational projects will ensure that children are kept in schools and dropout rates reduced. GOLEM Vocational and Apprenticeship Schemes will bring hope to the hopeless, and solve the future dependency of these youths on their parents, provide self reliance and self confidence and avoid violence and social vices in the communities.
